Inside Track
Thailand
Thailand is Asia’s premier tourist destination, with pristine tropical islands, glorious beaches and tiered temples. Ancient Thai temples, royal palaces and Khymer ruins dominate the cultural scene, but there are plenty of other diversions, from pristine national parks, beaches and coral reefs, to elephant sanctuaries and the wonderful flavours of Thai cuisine.
To make your stay in Thailand extra special, contact the Seasons in Style concierge department who will be happy to arrange the following for you:
- Rafting is fast gaining popularity among the young and young at heart. The mountainous regions of the north are the natural venue for whitewater rafting, especially after the rains from June to October when the rivers swell with floodwater. But first-class rafting is also to be found in the northern reaches of the central region.
- Rock climbing in Thailand is very popular; some of the best locations for rock climbing are in the central regions or in the spectacular limestone mountains that run through Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. On the east coast and easily accessible from Bangkok are sites in Chon Buri. The spectacular coastal cliffs of Railay Beach in Krabi are the climbing focus of the south, with further pitches to be found on some of the islands. We can arrange rock climbing with an experienced guide who will show you how to practice safe climbing.
- Most major hotels have an in-house Thai restaurant offering cooking classes, either as intensive hands-on sessions or as watch-and-eat events. In addition, there are cooking schools that provide basic skills sufficient to prepare a Thai meal in your own home, or even training to professional standards. The legendary Oriental Bangkok offers a four-day cooking course, conducted in English, with emphasis on demonstration by the chef-lecturers followed by some hand-on participation by students.
All of the above activities and reservations and much more can be discussed and arranged by our concierge department.
