Inside Track

Mauritius

This paradise island is blessed with white-sand beaches and clear turquoise waters. While it is undoubtedly small and remote, its French, Creole and Oriental influences ensure the highest international standards. Visitors tend to find all they want in the resorts themselves, although taking a catamaran trip is one of the best ways to explore the Indian Ocean, and dining on the island is a true experience. A particularly relaxed attitude towards children ensures guests of all ages feel more then welcome. Visit year-round, although expect increased temperatures and rainfall in the winter months of January to April.

To make your stay in Mauritius extra special, contact the Seasons in Style concierge department who will be happy to arrange the following for you:

- For a taste of true Mauritius, enjoy a gourmet day with one of Mauritius’ top chefs, Jacques de Maroussem. Begin the day with a visit to the main shopping port of Mauritius, Port Louis, to buy your ingredients and spices ready to make your typical Mauritian lunch.

- Why not try a full-day catamaran cruise along the west coast, seeking out the location of the dolphins. You will have the opportunity to snorkel and swim, with the spectacular view of the Rempart Mountain and Black River Range as your backdrop. A delicious barbeque lunch is served on board by the crew.

- Comfortably seated in an air-conditioned cabin under atmospheric pressure, you will discover the magic of the marine and coral life at 35 metres deep under the sea. For 45 minutes, you will discover the ship-wrecked ‘Star Hope’, corals and an anchor of the 17th century. A fabulous experience, open to all ages.

- If you’re feeling really adventurous why not try helmet diving; wearing an air-filled helmet you can walk on the seabed amongst a whole host of exotic and friendly fish, as well as discovering other forms of marine life.

All of the above activities and reservations and much more can be discussed and arranged by our concierge department.
