Named after the explorer, this quiet retreat is part of Sun International’s The Falls resort in Zambia.

Situated in a 46-hectare wildlife park, the hotel has a superb Zambezi River frontage overlooking Victoria Falls.

Accommodation

Inspired by the grand estate houses of the colonial era, accommodation is in a series of villas curving along the riverbank.

All rooms and suites have river views from a shaded balcony or terrace. Airy open spaces with shuttered windows, they are luxuriously furnished with antiques and Victorian baths, have satellite TV and butler service.

The luxurious Presidential Suite also features a spa bath and a private veranda.

Recreation

The resort incorporates an activity centre where travel professionals will advise and recommend a variety of excursions and safaris, including game drives, a rhino safari, an elephant back safari and a horseback safari.

Waterworld has facilities for para-sailing, water-skiing and jet-skiing, while the Outdoor Adventure Centre offers quad bike adventure trails, clay target shooting, archery and drum circles.
