Overview
The natural progression from Cape Town and the Winelands is to take a leisurely drive along the famous Garden Route, enjoying splendid scenery such as the Outeniqua Mountains, the lagoons and forests of Knysna and the seaside village of Plettenberg Bay. At the end of the Garden Route, in the Overberg region is the town of Hermanus which is widely regarded as one of the best land-based whale-watching sites in the world; visit between July and November for the best chance of seeing these creatures.
