Cape Town
Overview
Day 1: Arrive Cape Town
Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative who will transfer you to The Cape Grace Hotel for your three night stay in a Superior Room with breakfast; your hire car will be delivered later on. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Cape Town
Explore the city and take in its cosmopolitan ambience. Take a cable car ride or a hike to the top of Table Mountain. On a clear day, the views from the summit stretch across the Cape Peninsula and beyond Table Bay and Robben Island.
Day 3: Cape Town
Take a ferry trip from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront to visit Robben Island, a national museum and cultural heritage site.
Day 4: Cape Town – Franschhoek
En-route to Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands, pay a visit to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve; noted for its flora and fauna, spectacular coastline and bird species. On arrival in Franschhoek, check-in to Mont Rochelle Hotel for two nights in a Cabernet Room, with breakfast.
Day 5: Franschhoek
Franschhoek is all about food and wine; with many of South Africa’s best restaurants and vineyards in the area, this is certainly the place to enjoy it! A visit to one of the numerous vineyards in the valley is a must - complete the day with dinner in one of the top restaurants.
Day 6: Franschhoek – Hermanus
After breakfast, begin your journey to Birkenhead House in Hermanus, where you will stay for two nights in a Luxury Room on a full board basis. Savour the journey, taking in the spectacular mountain vistas.
Day 7: Hermanus
Spend the day in the resort town of Hermanus. Internationally acknowledged as one of best land-based whale watching sites in the world, it provides excellent sightings from its rocky coastal paths, particularly during September and October.
Day 8: Hermanus – Knysna
Drive to Knysna for a two night stay at Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in a Studio Suite with breakfast. Explore the fantastic leisure facilities that the resort has to offer.
Day 9: Knysna
Situated between lush forests and the shores of a peaceful lagoon, Knysna offers a wide variety of activities and attractions. Take a trip to see ‘the heads’ – two great sandstone cliffs guarding the mouth of the lagoon; one with a lookout to view the spectacular lagoon, the other a privately owned nature reserve.
Day 10: Knysna - Plettenberg Bay
Drive onwards to The Plettenberg Hotel and enjoy a Luxury Room with Sea View and breakfast for the next two nights. Spend the afternoon playing a round of golf, visit one of the local artists and craftsmen or enjoy a mountain bike ride.
Day 11: Plettenberg Bay
Take a boat cruise from Central Beach to really experience the wealth of marine life found here including dolphins, whales and seals.
Day 12: Plettenberg Bay - Shamwari Private Game Reserve
Make your way further east along the Garden Route, towards the Eastern Cape Region for your safari experience in malaria-free Long Lee Manor at Shamwari Private Game Reserve. Here you will spend the last two nights on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 13: Shamwari Private Game Reserve
Spend the day relaxing in luxurious facilities and enjoying the abundant wildlife in this Big Five game reserve.
Day 14: Departure
After your early morning game drive and breakfast, make your way to Port Elizabeth Airport where you will drop off your rental car and check-in for your flight to Johannesburg and then back home.
