Named as the Most Consistently Brilliant Hotel at the 2008 Tatler Travel Guide Awards, this private island sanctuary is the very definition of barefoot luxury.
It lies just 15 minutes by helicopter from Mahé and is one of the Seychelles’ 40 inner granitic islands that are often considered to be the most beautiful on Earth. It is perfect for those seeking an unspoilt tropical haven on a large and private island.
The entire island is known as a ‘Noah’s Ark’ – resident ecologists have returned it to its former pristine beauty and conserved critically endangered Seychelles species. With four white sandy beaches located at each end of the compass, North Island is able to offer a year-round tropical beach and island experience.
The island reopened in July 09 following an extensive renovation which included the villas, spa and gym.
Accommodation: 11 Villas
There are only 11 handcrafted guest villas on the entire island, each constructed to combine to create a sensorial experience in surroundings of understated elegance.
Each villa has two bedrooms, the second of which could be a study or a room for children, is completely self-contained and is raised a metre off the ground to capture the cooling island breezes.
In the evenings you can dine in your villa or in the oceanfront dining area, the delicious Creole cuisine enhanced by fine wines and congenial conversation.
The cuisine is based on the very finest natural products, especially the abundance of fresh fish available from the waters of the Indian Ocean.
There is a 'no menu' concept, and the chef speaks to each guest upon arrival to develop menus around your personal preferences.
The new Spa, perched high above the beach with stunning views of the ocean, specialises in personalised holistic treatments to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. There are also Thai massage decks in each of the spa villas.
North Island wellness experience has also had new techno gym equipment completely revamping the gym facility.
Activities include mountain biking, gym, guided walks, snorkelling, fishing, boating, sea kayaking and scuba diving.
Alternatively, many guests simply choose to laze the days away on the stunning beach.
The resort's 'All Inclusive' policy means you rarely have the need to spend whilst in residence except perhaps for fine wine and Champagne or for personal items purchased from the Boutique.
Breakfast, lunch & dinner are included daily in addition to unlimited open bars and a choice of imported house wines with all meals.
