India

Overview

The diversity and cultural strength of India cannot fail to impress; bustling cities contrast with the natural grandeur of the Himalayan foothills, the sweeping dunes of the Rajasthan desert and dense jungle.

Why not allow us to organise your luxury India holiday?

Delhi

Comprised of two distinct parts, Old Delhi and New Delhi, Delhi straddles the banks of the river Yamuna. The city blends an historic past with a vibrant present and is home to some of the finest museums and art galleries in the country. Visit the vibrant shopping complex of Connaught Place or Delhi Haat or pay a visit to the Red Fort and Jumma Masjid, one of the world’s largest mosques.

Mumbai

Known as ‘Bombay’ until 1996, Mumbai is the commercial capital of India and the second largest city in the world. Local attractions include Kala Ghoda Art District – a magical place which hosts some amazing architecture and the Gateway of India - a ceremonial arch built in 1927 to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary.

Agra

Agra needs little introduction, home to the world’s most extravagant monument to love, the Taj Mahal. Agra and the surrounding areas are full of magnificent history-rich monuments, including the great Agra Fort and the perfectly preserved phantom city of Fatehpur Sikri.

Jaipur

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is affectionately named the ‘Pink City’, for by law, all the buildings in the old city must be painted a deep saffron-pink. Polo is a popular pastime with matches played on horseback, elephants and even bicycles! Take time to visit the Amber Fort which is stunningly situated on a hillside overlooking lake Maotha, and take a city tour to visit the exquisite and sprawling City Palace and Museum comprising of several courtyards, gardens and buildings.

Udaipur

Known as the ‘City of Lakes’, Udaipur is the most romantic city in Rajasthan, and is dotted with stunning royal palaces, forts, temples, hibiscus-strewn gardens and fountain pavilions. Surrounded by hills and mountains and set on the edge of three lakes it is a truly enchanting city. Narrow streets lined with vividly coloured stalls, temples and palaces mirrored in the placid blue waters of Lake Pichhola, add to the city’s magic.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur, and is encircled by a 10km long wall. The city is blessed with a number of forts, temples, gardens and lakes. The historic grandeur, exquisite handicrafts, folk dances, music and the brightly attired people lend an aura of romance to the city.

Indian Safari

The national parks of Pench, Panna, Bandhavgarh and Ranthambhore provide excellent wildlife spotting opportunities. Made famous by Rudyard Kipling’s classic Jungle Book, Pench National Park supports a rich variety of wildlife, including tigers and leopards. As well as being home to the majestic Bengal tiger, Panna is also known for sightings of the sloth bear, wolf, hyena and jackal. Bandhavgarh is one of India’s most beautiful national parks with its dramatic landscape whilst Ranthambhore is part of the much larger Ranthambhore tiger reserve.

Himalayas

The Himalayan mountain range is home to the world's highest peaks, which include Mount Everest and K2. The system stretches across six countries including India and Bhutan and is home to parts of some of the world’s major rivers including the sacred Ganges; an extension of your itinerary into neighbouring Bhutan is simple to arrange. Set in the Indian foothills of the Himalayas, the tranquil villages of Rishikesh and Shimla provide the perfect setting to recover from the hustle and bustle of India.
