Overview

This hotel, voted Hotel of the Year 2008 by Gallivanter's Guide is set on Langkawi’s Tanjung Rhu Bay, a secluded white-sand beach which looks out across a peppering of limestone islets.

The resort claims Langkawi’s most dramatic setting: the 1.5km beach is backed by a delicate forest of casuarina trees, while across the bay a vertical cape points out from the mainland like a crooked finger.

Accommodation

All 91 guest pavilions and villas offer the soothing sounds of the Andaman Sea and sensational views of sunsets beyond the beach. The generously sized guest accommodations are a fusion of traditional Malaysian design elements and contemporary resort features, with timber floors, soaring ceilings and large open verandas.

Inspired by the traditions of indigenous artisans, the decor reflects the vibrancy of the natural environment. Some villas and all lower-level pavilions include secluded outdoor bathing and showers that evoke the feeling of a gentle tropical rainfall.

Restaurants & Bars

The three restaurants offer sun-drenched flavours of southern Italy and the Mediterranean at Serai, an exotic mix of Thai, Chinese and Malay delights at Ikan-Ikan, which is inspired by the surrounding Andaman Sea, and Western cuisine at Kafe Kelapa, which also features a full-service bar offering a wide range of tropical and international cocktails, poolside.

Recreation

The ocean-front lap pool for adults is located in the southern part of the Resort, near the spa facilities and two-bedroom villas. Private cabanas are available for couples who desire more privacy

Located next to the Kafe Kelapa, in the northern part of the Resort, the family pool overlooks the beach and the Andaman Sea. It is uniquely designed with many small coves that allow for privacy. Guests are provided with amenities including suntan lotion and iced water. Cool towels, freshly sliced tropical fruit and water spray are offered every hour.

Adventurous guests can explore Langkawi’s wildlife-rich rainforest with the resort’s resident naturalist, enjoy non-motorised water sports such as kayaking and snorkelling or have a private picnic at a nearby island. Round to the east of the bay a small river feeds into an open lagoon which sustains an extensive mangrove forest.

Children

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi has an itinerary and activities tailor-made to ensure that younger guests feel welcome and very much a part of the Four Seasons family. They can arrange activities such as touring a mangrove swamp, spotting tropical animals or simply walking and taking in the wonderful surroundings.

Spa

Four Seasons Resort Langkawi redefines the spa experience; honouring ancient Eastern traditions while celebrating modern Western sophistication. Six spa pavilions set against a backdrop of limestone granite are secluded to provide guests with utmost peace and tranquility. In a separate pavilion, guests may practice yoga and meditation. In addition, each of the Resort's one-bedroom Beach Villas, as well as the Presidential Villa, features a private spa room complete with two spa treatment beds.
